Uganda is best experienced on two wheels.
I have had the opportunity to ride with my friend known among riders as the Honourable Minister of Enjoyment, a passionate tour rider who travels to different parts of the country almost every week on a Honda Africa Twin.
These rides cut across highways, rural murram roads, trading centres, and remote villages. One thing touring teaches you very quickly is that road conditions in Uganda can change without warning. Smooth tarmac can turn into rough gravel within minutes, and traffic behaviour varies from place to place.
Riding long distances also teaches patience. It’s not about speed; it’s about planning fuel stops, resting when tired, reading the road ahead, and riding within your limits. Touring riders learn to respect weather changes, animals on the road, and unpredictable traffic.
These experiences shape how I approach road safety. They reinforce the message RideSafe Uganda shares daily — awareness, preparation, and discipline are what keep riders safe, not just riding skill.
